After spending 2 weeks back-country walking in Drysdale River National park, I can say that it contains some spectacular scenery, but it takes a long time to reach most of the spectacular places. For example, walking from the float-plan drop-off point (about a days walk upstream of Solea Falls) to Morgans Falls, is a 9 to 10 day return trip, all off-track and requiring strong navigational skills. Some shorter off-track options are Planingale Creek and Johnson Creek - the scenery is less spectacular but there is a lot of interest in the Indigenous art sites and the varied bird life. The Drysdale River is full of fish, turtles, cherubim and crocodiles (freshwater crocs above Solea Falls and saltwater crocs below).
